Senior Full Stack Developer (Java / Cloud / DevOps)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to join our Johannesburg team, working in an Agile DevOps environment to design, develop, and support cloud‑native applications. The role involves both backend Java development and occasional frontend work, with a focus on microservices, APIs, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain enterprise applications using Java 11+ and modern frameworks.
• Build scalable microservices with Spring Boot and/or Quarkus.
• Create robust RESTful APIs and event‑driven solutions using Kafka and JMS.
• Containerise applications with Docker and manage deployments in Kubernetes.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Collaborate with Agile feature teams across analysis, design, development, testing and deployment.
• Contribute to frontend development using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS when required.
• Write automated unit and integration tests and troubleshoot Tier‑3 production issues.
• Produce technical documentation, runbooks and standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant IT degree or equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in advanced Java backend development.
• Proven experience with microservices, REST APIs and messaging frameworks (Kafka, JMS).
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
