Senior Foreman / Assistant Workshop Manager

About the role

The Senior Foreman / Assistant Workshop Manager will plan, execute and oversee all service workshop activities, ensuring every vehicle is serviced to manufacturer standards the first time. The role combines strong leadership with operational excellence to meet CSI targets, labour sales and profit goals.

Key responsibilities

• Drive operational and functional excellence across the workshop.
• Lead people management, coaching technicians, apprentices and support staff.
• Maintain high‑level customer relations and address client requirements.
• Oversee financial, warranty and inventory management, including stock control.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage administrative and information processes.
• Perform quality control of all vehicles before hand‑over to service advisors.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with a recognised motor‑trade test certificate (red seal); tertiary qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 8 years operational experience in a service workshop within the motor‑vehicle industry or dealership, preferably with an OEM brand.
• Proven experience as a Service Workshop Foreman, Manager or Service Advisor.
• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle service, maintenance and repair.
• Ability to lead and develop a team of technicians and support staff.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel for vehicle testing.
• Good command of English and a local language.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and service/parts management systems (IAL, Evolve, CMS).
• Medically fit and clear criminal record.
