Senior Entry Controller

About the role

A leading logistics company in Durban is looking for an experienced Senior Entry Controller to join its Customs Clearing team. The role focuses on accurate preparation and processing of customs entries while ensuring full compliance with South African SARS regulations and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and frame all customs entries after quality‑checking supporting documentation.
• Process a variety of entry types (WH, DP, WE, IR, XDP, XGR, XIR).
• Ensure declarations comply with SARS legislation and company procedures.
• Perform tariff classification and calculate customs duties accurately.
• Analyse and apply Incoterms to import and export transactions.
• Submit customs documentation within required timeframes and apply for import permits via ITAC when needed.
• Handle landing orders, cargo dues for bulk and break‑bulk cargo, and respond to customs queries.
• Liaise with clients, shipping lines, transporters and authorities to facilitate cargo clearance.
• Maintain accurate customs records and perform general administrative duties.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with strong mathematics results.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in freight forwarding or customs clearing.
• Working knowledge of ShipShape or similar customs clearing software.
• Strong understanding of South African customs legislation, processes and procedures.
• Proven experience in tariff classification and duty calculations.
• Good practical knowledge of Incoterms.
