Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician

About the role

As a member of the client’s team you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP). This includes daily visual inspections, monitoring, installation, testing, service and maintenance of the high‑voltage substation and overhead line that connects to the main 132 kV line, as well as preparing weekly reports and analysing performance KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver operational and preventative maintenance, upgrades, performance optimisation, corrective service, installations and workshop repairs in line with contractual obligations.
• Prepare and submit timely service and monitoring reports.
• Adhere to all OH&S policies and escalation procedures.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of safety instructions and operational procedures.
• Act as the site‑based technical advisor for the client, providing trusted guidance on technical matters.

Required profile

• National Diploma (University of Technology) or equivalent NQF‑level qualification recognised by SAQA, with 5+ years relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience on medium‑voltage (MV) systems (3.3 kV‑33 kV).
• Understanding of EBOP operation and maintenance within the HV transmission sector.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong technical report writing skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
