Senior Designer – Fashion Trend & Product Development

About the role

We are seeking a creative and detail‑oriented Senior Designer to lead trend forecasting and product development for a well‑established fashion supplier in Sandton. You will shape seasonal collections across menswear, womenswear and occasional kidswear, working closely with buying and production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse market trends, create seasonal trend boards, themes, colour palettes and key items.
• Produce and present trend reports, lookbooks and range concepts to buying teams.
• Source and purchase trend‑driven products and samples locally and internationally.
• Identify and source directional products across categories and manage overseas sample evaluation.
• Develop comprehensive tech packs, including technical drawings, garment specifications, trims, graphics and print designs.
• Design trims, graphics and prints for seasonal collections.
• Collaborate with buyers, planners, suppliers and manufacturers throughout costing, sampling and product development.
• Liaise with suppliers in South Africa, China, Bangladesh and other regions, manage brand approvals and conduct garment fittings.
• Monitor bulk production quality to ensure design, fit and specification standards are maintained.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Clothing Management, Textile Design or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Fashion Designer in a fast‑paced retail, manufacturing or apparel environment.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring a design team.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, fits and production processes.
• Demonstrated ability to design commercial product ranges aligned with market and brand requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator.
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop.
