Senior Data Engineer – Hybrid (Midrand)

About the role

We are seeking a senior data engineer to design, develop and optimise modern data pipelines and architectures for a leading South African technology group. The role focuses on building scalable, secure data platforms that support analytics, business intelligence and AI/ML initiatives for international clients. You will work with a Microsoft‑centric stack in a hybrid environment based in Midrand.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics and SSIS.
• Develop and optimise data warehousing solutions and complex data models.
• Build data platforms that enable machine‑learning, advanced analytics and reporting.
• Create interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver data‑driven solutions.
• Ensure data security, compliance, privacy and high data quality.
• Implement DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
• Mentor junior team members and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on data engineering, BI or analytics experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or related field.
• Microsoft certifications are a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
