Senior Cost Accountant – Mining Operations

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to lead the cost accounting function for a leading global gold mining operation. You will drive cost analysis, budgeting and profitability assessments while mentoring a finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the cost accounting function across mining operations.
• Manage and mentor junior finance and costing team members.
• Analyse operational and production costs and provide strategic recommendations.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, variance analyses and profitability assessments.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning processes.
• Partner with operational management to improve efficiencies and cost controls.
• Monitor production performance against budgets and financial targets.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee inventory, stock and operational cost management.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or BCom Honours in Accounting; CIMA qualification advantageous.
• 6–7 years of cost accounting experience, with mandatory mining industry exposure.
• At least 5 years of management or team‑leadership experience.
• Proven track record in operational finance, budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis.
• Strong experience in mining production costing and financial performance management.
