Senior Cloud Native Consultant

About the role

ControlPlane, a London-headquartered consultancy focused on cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes and open-source security, is expanding its remote workforce and seeks a Senior Cloud Native Consultant. The role balances technical engineering with strategic consulting: consultants work on client engagements, internal lab experiments and open-source contributions, advocating threat modelling, zero-trust frameworks and supply-chain security. It suits a seasoned engineer comfortable with complex infrastructure and high-level stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert consultancy to clients securing complex, large-scale cloud infrastructures.
• Run internal lab projects testing and refining new security methodologies.
• Contribute to open-source security projects with the wider developer community.
• Support firm growth through pre-sales assistance and client relationship management.
• Implement best-in-class security for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and containerised environments.

Required profile

• Sophisticated understanding of Kubernetes environments, specifically GKE, EKS or OpenShift.
• Mature software-engineering approach combining technical execution with a consulting mindset.
• Prior client-facing experience and the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-driven, able to contribute to business development and pre-sales; remote-first organisation.

Required skills

• Deep Kubernetes expertise and at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP or Azure).
• IaC tools and GitOps workflows such as FluxCD or ArgoCD.
• Golang, Python or Java for building and maintaining secure, automated systems.
• CI/CD pipeline security and a secure-by-default mindset.
