Senior Cloud Architect, Delivery

About the role

This senior, customer‑facing position is part of a global cloud engineering organisation that helps enterprises design, optimise and scale advanced cloud and AI/ML solutions. Based in South Africa, you will act as a trusted advisor to engineering, architecture and FinOps teams, translating complex business challenges into secure, reliable and cost‑efficient cloud architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of production‑grade cloud and AI/ML solutions on AWS, ensuring scalability, security and cost efficiency.
• Act as a technical advisor for customers, delivering architecture reviews, cloud optimisation assessments, security posture evaluations and Generative AI workshops.
• Translate complex requirements into well‑architected solutions covering HA/DR, IAM, networking and observability patterns.
• Support production AI/ML workloads, including model deployment, scaling, monitoring and cost optimisation for GenAI and LLM‑based systems.
• Collaborate with account teams to drive adoption, customer success and continuous improvement.
• Convert field learnings into reusable assets such as Terraform modules, templates, playbooks and automation frameworks.
• Provide technical feedback to product and engineering teams to influence platform road‑maps.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience designing, deploying and operating cloud‑based AI/ML and production‑grade distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in AWS services, with hands‑on experience using Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker.
• Proven track record deploying and scaling Generative AI workloads, including LLM fine‑tuning and inference optimisation.
• Solid understanding of MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, model monitoring, data pipelines and governance.

Required skills
