Senior Client KYC & Compliance Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Client KYC & Compliance Officer to join a well‑established international financial services organisation. Based in South Africa with a remote work environment, you will lead compliance activities for sophisticated clients and complex international structures.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client onboarding, customer due diligence (CDD), and ongoing reviews, including incorporations and transfer‑ins.
• Verify identification documents, assess source of funds/wealth, and determine ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs).
• Conduct screening for politically exposed persons (PEPs), sanctions, and adverse media.
• Assess client risk, trigger enhanced due diligence (EDD) when required, and identify suspicious activity.
• Support transaction monitoring, file reviews, compliance testing, and regulatory inspections.
• Review work of junior team members and ensure quality standards.
• Prepare and deliver compliance presentations to directors and senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of compliance experience in financial services, banking, insurance, or a regulated environment.
• Proven ability to work autonomously on a demanding portfolio.
• Familiarity with international structures and jurisdictions such as Mauritius.
• Strong understanding of risk‑based judgement and regulatory expectations.
