Senior Case Manager – Durban, KZN

About the role

The Senior Case Manager will provide both on‑site and remote operational support to Lenmed hospitals in KwaZulu‑Natal, ensuring continuity of patient services during peak periods, staff shortages and operational challenges. The role focuses on stabilising case‑management operations, enhancing capacity and driving performance improvement across high‑demand environments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site and remote operational support across Lenmed hospitals in KwaZulu‑Natal during peak periods, staff shortages and operational challenges.
• Stabilise and optimise case management processes in line with organisational policies, SOPs, funder requirements and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care by facilitating daily ward rounds and ensuring effective collaboration between clinical, nursing and administrative teams.
• Identify, prioritise and manage high‑risk and high‑cost cases, ensuring timely clinical updates and authorisation processes.
• Analyse case‑management trends, rejections and systemic inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (NQF 6) or equivalent with current SANC registration.
• 3–5 years acute hospital experience, including at least 3 years in case management, managed care or patient flow.
• Proven experience in clinical coding, medical‑aid rules and hospital billing processes.
• Strong understanding of financial risk management and DNYB processes.

Required skills

• Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Clinical coding systems: ICD‑10, CPT and CCSA.
• Experience with SAP and Kronos (advantageous).
• Advanced ICD‑10 qualification.
