Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join a globally distributed engineering team focused on advanced digital finance and blockchain‑powered technologies. The role is remote‑first and involves building and maintaining scalable backend systems that power high‑performance financial services used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs for a high‑performance financial platform.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical architectures.
• Improve existing Node.js services for reliability, scalability and performance.
• Develop new integrations with distributed services and micro‑service architectures using RPC calls.
• Write and optimise complex queries for relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Contribute to platform scalability initiatives and ensure real‑time responsiveness.
• Apply security best practices to protect infrastructure, transactions and user data.
• Participate in Agile processes, code reviews, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience with JavaScript and Node.js backend development.
• Strong understanding of micro‑services architecture and distributed systems design.
• Experience building and maintaining large‑scale platforms.
• Proficiency with both relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of backend security concepts and secure API development.
• Experience with high‑availability systems and scalability optimisation.
