Senior Accountant – Centurion

About the role

GSI Talent Solutions is recruiting a Senior Accountant for a well‑established client in the distribution/manufacturing sector. The role oversees the entire accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting, statutory compliance and robust financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting and financial function of the business.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Execute Forex transactions, reconciliations and related accounting entries.
• Handle VAT calculations, submissions and reconciliations.
• Review payroll processing and ensure accurate payroll accounting.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Maintain strong financial controls and drive process improvements.
• Prepare schedules for internal and external audits and liaise with auditors, SARS, banks and suppliers.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or Financial Accounting qualification.
• 3–5 years of experience in a senior accounting role.
• Proven experience managing a full financial function.
• Strong knowledge of Forex, VAT and SARS compliance.
• Experience reviewing and reconciling payroll.
• Experience with statutory reporting and compliance.
• Background in distribution or manufacturing is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
