Semi-Skilled Boiler Operator - Durban

About the role

Our client in the oil sector, based in Durban, is looking for a semi‑skilled Boiler Operator to join their team on a full‑time basis. You will be responsible for maintaining safe and efficient boiler operations, ensuring the production of steam and high‑temperature water to meet plant demands.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain proper water temperature and steam pressure for coal‑fired high‑pressure boilers.
• Follow standard operating procedures, efficiency guidelines, and safety regulations.
• Operate equipment to produce and control steam or high‑temperature water as required.
• Perform visual inspections of boilers, stockers, conveyors, and valves to verify correct operation.
• Monitor flow meters and charts continuously to assess steam production levels.
• Adjust fires, operate pressure‑reducing valves, and start/stop water pumps as needed.
• Carry out additional duties of similar or higher level as assigned.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent academic certificate.
• One to two years proven experience as a Boiler Operator.
• Completed boiler apprenticeship is preferred.
• Strong communication and time‑management abilities.
