Sample Shop Assistant

About the role

We’re hiring a Sample Shop Assistant for the Ackermans Support Centre in Kuilsriver. If you are passionate about retail, customer service and bringing energy to every task, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an excellent shopping experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a great shopping experience and adhering to 5‑star service principles.
• Perform cashier duties including processing card payments, handling new staff accounts, reporting discrepancies and balancing the till.
• Manage merchandising tasks such as separating damaged stock, counting inventory, ensuring price tickets are present, correcting pricing, creating attractive displays and maintaining correct hanger inserts and department placement.
• Maintain general housekeeping by keeping the shop clean, stacking boxes safely, clearing walkways and aligning products neatly.
• Stay alert to suspicious activity or shoplifting, report incidents promptly to the supervisor and ensure accurate incident recording.
• Support the Sample Shop Supervisor with ad‑hoc duties and follow direct instructions as required.

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Previous experience in a similar role within the clothing or textile industry is an advantage.
• Understanding of standard operating procedures within a sample shop.
