Sales Operations Manager – FMCG Field Execution

About the role

A fast‑growing FMCG distributor operating within the nicotine and vaping category across Southern Africa is seeking a hands‑on Sales Operations Manager to drive consistent field execution across three regions. Reporting to the Commercial Operations Manager and working closely with national and regional sales leadership, the role will own call coverage, distribution, ranging, shelf compliance, promotional execution and field accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Own national execution standards covering call coverage, distribution, ranging, shelf compliance and promotional execution.
• Conduct a national field‑execution audit within the first 90 days and develop a practical execution scorecard.
• Perform regular field audits across all three regions, identify breakdowns and work directly with responsible employees to resolve them.
• Establish the national operating rhythm through weekly execution reviews, daily activity checks and firm reporting deadlines.
• Partner with Logistics, Operations and Finance to resolve stock‑availability, delivery‑reliability and pricing issues.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on FMCG field execution experience covering call coverage, distribution, ranging and in‑store standards.
• Demonstrated success in personally resolving execution gaps with measurable results.
• Willingness to spend significant time in stores, depots, trucks and the field with sales representatives.
• Experience holding regional or field teams accountable without direct management authority.
• Valid driver’s licence, own reliable vehicle and ability to travel extensively across South Africa.
