Sales Manager / Business Development Manager – Food Safety & Compliance

About the role

Our client, a leading provider of food safety, compliance auditing and training services, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager / Business Development Manager to expand its footprint across South Africa. The role is highly client‑facing and focuses on generating new business, nurturing relationships with senior decision‑makers, and delivering revenue growth in the food safety sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies to meet sales and revenue targets.
• Identify, prospect and secure new clients across targeted industries.
• Build and maintain a measurable sales pipeline with accurate forecasts.
• Conduct client meetings, understand requirements and present food safety and compliance solutions.
• Prepare proposals, quotations and commercial presentations.
• Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract signing, including negotiation of commercial terms.
• Identify cross‑selling and account‑development opportunities.
• Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure disciplined pipeline management.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal technical and operational teams to ensure successful delivery.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, Commerce or related field (advantageous).
• Proven B2B sales and business development experience.
• Experience selling within food safety, compliance, auditing, certification, inspection or training environments is highly advantageous.
• Strong track record of new business development and achieving sales targets.
• Experience engaging with senior decision‑makers and managing longer B2B sales cycles.
