Sales Executive - Public Sector (ICT Sales)

About the role

We are seeking a results‑driven Public Sector Sales Executive with a strong track record of winning new business within the South African public sector. This is a true hunting role focused on identifying, developing, and closing ICT sales opportunities across municipalities, government departments, public entities, and state‑owned enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and close new business opportunities within the public sector.
• Build and manage your own sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals, and market intelligence.
• Develop relationships with key decision‑makers, including CIOs, ICT Managers, Procurement Officials, and Municipal Executives.
• Own the full sales cycle from lead generation through to negotiation and contract closure.
• Track public sector opportunities, RFQs, RFPs, tenders, and procurement initiatives; collaborate with internal technical and bid teams to develop winning solutions and proposals.
• Maintain accurate pipeline forecasts and CRM records.
• Achieve and exceed sales targets.

Required profile

• 5+ years of successful ICT/Technology sales experience selling into the South African public sector.
• Matric, plus a relevant sales, business or ICT qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Proven track record of originating and closing new business opportunities.
• Strong network within municipalities, government departments, SOEs, or public entities.
• Solid understanding of public sector procurement, SCM processes, tenders, and government budget cycles.
• Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.
• Relevant sales, business, or ICT qualification preferred.
