SAICA Graduate / Trainee Accountant

About the role

A leading accounting firm is seeking a motivated SAICA Graduate / Trainee Accountant to join its professional team in Durban. This full‑time position offers hands‑on experience across accounting, auditing and tax functions, supporting a diverse client portfolio while progressing toward a Chartered Accountant qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing annual financial statements and management accounts.
• Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support audit and assurance engagements, including working papers and schedules.
• Prepare tax calculations, VAT and other statutory returns.
• Process month‑end and year‑end accounting transactions.
• Analyse financial data, investigate variances and maintain client records.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to meet accounting requirements.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting, BCompt, Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent.
• Progress towards SAICA qualification is highly advantageous.
• Strong academic record and motivation to develop in a professional accounting environment.
• Graduate‑level candidates with limited or no formal work experience are welcome.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with accounting software.
• Basic knowledge of financial statement preparation and audit procedures.
