Road Freight Operations Controller – Freight Forwarding

About the role

The Road Freight Operations Controller will oversee end‑to‑end freight forwarding activities for our clients in the Durban region. You will act as the main point of contact, ensuring shipments are executed efficiently, compliantly and with high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all shipments from purchase order issuance in line with Incoterms.
• Maintain service levels and revenue margins.
• Ensure timely dispatch of every shipment.
• Keep clients fully informed of shipment progress.
• Guarantee compliance with all customs regulations.
• Execute transactions according to standard operating procedures.
• Liaise with suppliers and expeditors to secure timely uplift.
• Obtain proof of delivery from hauliers and destination offices.
• Prepare and issue client invoices.
• Handle multimodal export and import shipments.
• Meet all destination‑country requirements.

Required profile

• Matric certificate.
• Freight forwarding qualifications.
• 3–5 years experience as a road freight controller.
• Strong knowledge of Incoterms and customs procedures.

Required skills

• Knowledge of customs regulations.
• Understanding of Incoterms.
• Ability to manage multimodal shipments.
