Retail Store Assistant - Jabulani

About the role

The Dis-Chem Retail Store Assistant at the Jabulani store assists with the overall management and operation of the store, balancing customer service with administrative and operational duties. The role suits an experienced retail professional who enjoys both customer interaction and accurate administrative work. The position is full-time and permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Assist customers with enquiries, resolve stock queries and refer them to the right departments; report customer complaints and compliments to management
• Support point-of-sale processes: manage shorts, overs and floats, process refunds and returns, and handle back shopping and returned goods correctly
• Review deliveries and invoices for accuracy, support Distribution Centre claims, manage high-risk stock and prepare daily run reconciliations
• Prepare branch change requirements and maintain documentation for floats, petty cash and cash on hand
• Meet the customer turnover-per-hour benchmark and maintain effective communication between customers, management, receiving and cashiers

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification
• Previous retail experience, including customer service, cash handling, POS operations, stock management, returns and refunds, inventory control and complaint handling
• Ability to work under pressure and meet performance expectations

Required skills

• Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and SAP
• Attention to detail for cash, stock and reconciliation work
