Residential Healthcare Worker

About the role

The Residential Healthcare Worker will be based at Life Nkanyisa Lorraine Frail Care Centre in Johannesburg, reporting to the Health Centre Manager. The role supports the delivery of high‑quality nursing care and contributes to the overall functioning of the residential unit.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality clinical care and monitor residents' response to treatment through accurate record‑keeping.
• Implement, evaluate and facilitate ward, vocational and activity programmes under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living, sports, games and social events, ensuring safety and engagement.
• Manage stock, maintain equipment, and keep departmental records up to date.
• Participate in training, special awareness events and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a Residential Health Care Worker qualification.
• Experience working with long‑term psychiatric residents.
• Professional and ethical behaviour towards patients and staff.
• Good attendance, reliable work habits and ability to work as part of a team.
