Resident Engineer – Water Infrastructure

About the role

The Resident Engineer will act on behalf of the client to supervise contractors on water‑infrastructure projects, ensuring that construction work follows the approved scope, quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and administer the construction contract and site staff in line with contract terms.
• Manage the construction package according to GCC2015 guidelines.
• Communicate engineer instructions to the contractor and verify compliance with bonds, insurance and guarantees.
• Liaise with local communities, land owners and service providers to arrange compensation, permits and service relocations.
• Monitor contractor progress, coordinate with senior engineers, and refer design queries to the Design Engineer.
• Ensure occupational health and safety (OHSA) obligations are understood and applied.
• Support environmental management and coordinate with health, safety, social and gender specialists.
• Review and approve monthly payment certificates and agree on quantity measurements.
• Identify and mitigate implementation, completion and budget risks using risk‑management tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising construction contracts and site teams.
• Familiarity with GCC2015 contract standards and OHSA regulations.
• Ability to liaise with communities, land owners and regulatory authorities.
• Strong understanding of risk identification and mitigation in construction projects.
