Reservationist

About the role

The Capital Hotels is seeking a Reservationist to manage guest, travel‑agent and referral network communications related to bookings. You will be the first point of contact for reservations arriving via phone, email, fax or our central reservation system, ensuring a seamless experience for our guests.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and process reservation inquiries from guests, travel agents and referral partners.
• Create, update and maintain reservation records organized by arrival date and alphabetically.
• Prepare and dispatch confirmation letters and promptly handle cancellations or modifications.
• Utilise the hotel management system (Protel preferred) to record and track bookings.
• Maintain calm under pressure, resolve incidents, and conduct investigations when needed.
• Collaborate with team members and work independently to meet daily targets.

Required profile

• Matric or Hospitality Diploma (or equivalent).
• 2–3 years of proven reservationist experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail, honesty and trustworthiness.
• Ability to handle confidential information with diplomacy.
• Team‑player who leads by example and can work autonomously.

Required skills

• Protel (or similar HMS) reservation system.
