Remote Qualified Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a SAIPA‑registered qualified accountant to join a boutique accounting firm serving a diverse portfolio of clients in the Western Cape. The role is fully remote, allowing you to manage client accounts from anywhere while maintaining strong relationships and ensuring compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Report directly to the Head Accountant, delivering accurate financial and tax support.
• Maintain accounting records for a portfolio of company entities and prepare monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
• Prepare, review and submit tax calculations, statutory tax returns, VAT returns and other statutory documentation.
• Compile financial reports, reconciliations and working papers for audit purposes.
• Respond to client queries on taxation, bookkeeping, financial statements and general accounting matters.
• Liaise with SARS to resolve queries, objections and compliance issues.
• Support the firm’s objectives by contributing to client service excellence and revenue growth.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification; post‑articles experience is advantageous.
• Experience in tax and accounting within an accounting or audit firm.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Confident client interaction and third‑party communication.
• Target‑driven, reliable, independent self‑starter.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Caseware or QuickBooks.
