Remote Construction Estimator (US Projects)

About the role

We are seeking a remote Construction Estimator to support a US‑based general contractor specializing in historic renovation and commercial building projects. The position is based in South Africa and works closely with the Omaha team, providing detailed take‑offs, cost estimates, and bid management for a variety of construction trades.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs from architectural and structural drawings.
• Develop and price estimates for new construction and historic renovation projects.
• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier bids across trades such as concrete, framing, electrical, and mechanical.
• Support pre‑construction budgeting and hand over budgets to project management once work is awarded.
• Introduce and apply new estimating tools and technologies to modernize the function.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related built‑environment field.
• 3–5+ years of combined quantity surveying and estimating experience (strong junior‑to‑mid candidates may be considered).
• Solid grounding in building construction estimating; exposure to renovation is a plus.
• Familiarity with US construction standards, CSI MasterFormat, and US customary units.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to work across US Central Time (CST) hours.

Required skills

• Experience with Sage or Sage Timberline estimating software.
• Experience with Procore project management platform.
• Tech‑curious mindset with willingness to learn new estimating tools quickly.
