Release Train Engineer

About the role

The core of this position revolves around facilitating the successful operation of a single, complex Agile Release Train. This involves a deep understanding and practical application of the SAFe methodology. You will be responsible for ensuring that the train operates efficiently, delivering consistent value to stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate PI Planning events, ensuring clear understanding and alignment with programme objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, workflows and team dynamics.
• Promote Lean‑Agile transformation, acting as a coach and mentor to leaders and teams.
• Maintain alignment between the ART’s objectives and broader programme and portfolio strategies.
• Provide visibility into the health of feature delivery and overall progress of the programme increment.
• Remove impediments that hinder the ART’s progress.
• Coach and influence leaders and teams in adopting new ways of working.
• Foster collaboration and communication across all teams within the ART.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience implementing and executing Agile Release Trains and Lean‑Agile programmes, preferably in small to medium‑sized solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Agile working practices, including Lean and Scrum principles, estimation, prioritisation and measurement.
• Proven track record in facilitating delivery and leading Agile transformations.
• Excellent collaboration skills across multiple teams.
• Practical problem‑solving ability with a focus on feasibility and viability.
• Clear and concise communication skills.
• Adaptability and openness to change.
• Willingness to receive and integrate feedback.
• Strong stakeholder management experience, especially in an IT context.
• Relevant first‑degree qualification in Information Technology or a related field (desirable).
• Certified Scrum Manager (CSM) or equivalent certification (advantageous).
