Registered Nurse – Trauma Experience – Emergency Unit

About the role

Life Bayview Hospital is seeking a trauma‑experienced Registered Nurse for its Emergency Unit. Reporting to Unit Manager Carmen van der Merwe, the successful candidate will deliver uncompromising quality care in line with company objectives and nursing legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in quality programmes, complete monthly evaluator cards and attend ward meetings to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System.
• Maintain infection‑control standards, adhere to PPE protocols and follow safety measures.
• Manage stock administration accurately, report patient movements on discharge or transfer, and ensure proper equipment usage and maintenance.
• Provide patient care according to nursing care plans, including hygiene, comfort, safety, wound care and monitoring fluid intake.
• Assist with the preparation and management of surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers and support orientation of new staff.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• At least 1 year post‑qualification experience in an Emergency Unit.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry is advantageous.
• Computer proficiency and a valid driver’s licence with ability to travel.
