Registered Nurse – Trauma & Emergency

About the role

The hospital is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse with trauma and emergency experience to deliver safe, cost‑effective patient care. The role involves direct and indirect nursing responsibilities for patients in a high‑acuity environment, ensuring compliance with hospital standards and health legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care in accordance with the nursing scope of practice and hospital policies.
• Participate in handover meetings and communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate health records and conduct audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage stock levels, ensuring proper charging, crediting, and control of supplies.
• Promote patient health and wellbeing, and support holistic care initiatives.
• Adapt to rotating ward assignments when occupancy levels change.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse/Midwife (or equivalent NQF 7 qualification).
• Relevant specialist qualification and at least 2 years of experience in a Trauma Unit.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and hours.
• Ability to implement and uphold health practice standards and relevant legislation.
