Registered Nurse – Theatre Experienced

About the role

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse with theatre experience at Life Groenkloof Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Unit Manager. The successful candidate will assist the surgical team in performing procedures and ensure optimal patient care in line with hospital objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately manage theatre clocking time and ensure correct financial charging.
• Control consignment stock, equipment and prosthesis according to policy, including regular stock taking.
• Educate and supervise staff on proper use of theatre equipment and instrumentation.
• Obtain pre‑operative information, visit patients post‑operatively and assist the doctor during surgery.
• Provide theatre‑specific training, assess staff competence and monitor normal and overtime hours.
• Ensure compliance with personal protective equipment, ISO requirements and proper medical waste disposal.

Required profile

• General Nursing Degree or Diploma.
• Theatre experience essential, preferably in a Cathlab setting.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Willingness to be on standby and respond to emergency call‑outs.
• Own transport or ability to reach the hospital within 30 minutes for emergencies.
• Computer proficiency is an advantage.
