Registered Nurse – Protea Unit

About the role

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse in the Protea Unit at Life Carstenview Hospital in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the role focuses on delivering high‑quality patient care and ensuring professional, ethical nursing practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide and supervise nursing care in line with legislation and ethical codes.
• Develop and manage comprehensive nursing care plans using the scientific nursing process.
• Coordinate and supervise nursing activities of the healthcare team delivering basic care.
• Enhance patient satisfaction through quality improvement initiatives and complaint management.
• Maintain a safe, emotionally and physically secure environment, including infection control.
• Contribute to business efficiency by managing resources, stock, case management and billing.
• Coach, mentor and support staff development through on‑the‑job education and performance management.

Required profile

• General Nursing Degree or Diploma and registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Relevant experience in a private healthcare setting and ability to meet the listed critical outputs.
• Competencies such as problem‑solving, attention to detail, resilience, effective communication and ethical behaviour.
• Computer proficiency and, where applicable, a diploma in a nursing specialty.
