Registered Nurse – ICU (Qualified/Experienced)

About the role

Life Healthcare Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse to join the ICU team at Life Queenstown Private Hospital. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will deliver holistic, high‑quality nursing care to critically ill patients and support the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic and specialised nursing care to ICU patients.
• Communicate continuously with patients and families about condition and treatment.
• Administer medication in line with ethical and legal standards.
• Follow internal policies, protocols and quality‑management systems.
• Advocate for patients, coordinate with case management and inform doctors of any concerns.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and support staff development.
• Manage ICU stock, staff hours and leave according to company policy.
• Maintain infection‑control standards and complete SHEQ incident reports.
• Ensure equipment is functional, report faults and train staff on specialised devices.
• Accurately record and store patient information in compliance with legal requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Post‑graduate Diploma in Critical Care (advantageous).
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
