Registered Nurse – ICU (Multiple Locations)

About the role

Melomed is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join its Intensive Care Units across Mitchell's Plain, Bellville and Gatesville. You will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including ventilator management and medication administration.
• Supervise, orient and mentor junior staff and nursing students during clinical rotations.
• Conduct patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and maintain accurate records.
• Perform wound care, infection‑prevention practices, and health education for patients and families.
• Participate in on‑call shift work, overtime and occasional assistance to other departments as needed.

Required profile

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2–3 years of proven ICU experience.
• Post‑basic qualification in Critical Care (advantageous).
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to a team‑oriented setting and maintain high energy levels.

Required skills

• Ventilator competency.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Oral medication administration.
• Wound care techniques.
• Infection prevention principles.
