Registered Nurse - ICU

About the role

The Professional/Clinical Nurse in the ICU provides holistic, person‑centred care to patients, families and the community. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the nurse assesses, plans and implements individualized nursing interventions while upholding the values of care, truth, participation, compassion and dignity.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource to assist staff in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting nursing care.
• Maintain clear communication with families, health professionals and nursing management to resolve patient‑care issues.
• Deliver advanced nursing care in accordance with standards, SOPs and medical direction.
• Initiate and manage emergency treatment (RESUS) across any hospital ward.
• Interview patients and families to gather background information and identify problems.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, conduct physician rounds, and develop nursing care plans.
• Prepare comprehensive shift documentation reflecting patient status and staffing ratios.
• Provide input for patient‑care policy and procedure development.

Required profile

• Qualified Registered Nurse with responsibility for holistic, individualized patient care.
• Ability to coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of nursing theories, standards, and scope of practice.
• Capability to act as patient advocate and communicate effectively with families and professionals.
