Registered Nurse – ICU

About the role

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Intensive Care Units at Melomed facilities in Mitchell's Plain, Bellville and Gatesville. The role involves delivering high‑quality critical care to acutely ill patients in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the ICU, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Administer oral and scheduled medications accurately.
• Perform wound care and manage ventilator support.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop nursing care plans.
• Supervise and orient junior staff members and nursing students.
• Lead teaching rounds and present clinical information.
• Maintain accurate documentation and record‑keeping.
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols and hospital policies.
• Participate in in‑service training and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in other departments as needed, including overtime and shift work.

Required profile

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Post‑basic qualification in Critical Care (advantageous).
• Minimum 2–3 years of proven ICU nursing experience.
• Ventilator competency is essential.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and be flexible across departments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
