Registered Nurse – ICU

About the role

Melomed is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join its Intensive Care Units across Mitchell's Plain, Bellville and Gatesville. The role involves delivering high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including ventilator management.
• Supervise, orientate and teach junior staff and nursing students.
• Administer oral medications and perform wound care safely.
• Conduct patient assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection‑prevention protocols and best practices.
• Participate in in‑service training, present talks and support other departments as needed.

Required profile

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Post‑basic qualification in Critical Care (advantageous).
• 2–3 years of proven ICU experience.
• Ventilator competency is essential.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and assist in other departments.
