Registered Nurse – Cardiothoracic Theatre (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a leading private hospital in Pretoria as a Cardiothoracic Theatre Nurse. This full‑time position involves delivering specialised care in a high‑pressure surgical environment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced, individualised nursing care during cardiothoracic surgeries.
• Act as a clinical resource and advocate for patients throughout the surgical episode.
• Participate in physician rounds, contribute to care planning and ensure accurate shift documentation.
• Support policy development, quality assurance and risk management initiatives.
• Mentor junior nursing staff and students, and promote continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
• Minimum five years of experience in a private‑hospital theatre, specifically as a Cardiothoracic Scrub Nurse.
• Proven ability to manage emergency situations and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to participate in on‑call duties.
