Registered Nurse – Cardiac ICU (CICU)

About the role

Life Healthcare Group is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse with Cardiac ICU (CICU) expertise to join the Life Eugene Marais Hospital team. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will deliver holistic, high‑quality nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately record and manage Cardiac ICU clocking time and ensure proper financial charging.
• Maintain consignment stock, equipment and prostheses in line with hospital policy, including regular stock‑taking.
• Educate and supervise staff on the correct use of theatre equipment and instrumentation.
• Provide pre‑operative information, post‑operative visits, ensure patient comfort and assist physicians during procedures.
• Deliver cardiac‑specific training, assess staff competence, and monitor normal and overtime hours.
• Enforce PPE use, comply with ISO standards, and manage medical waste disposal.
• Foster effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders through meetings and issue escalation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
• Relevant degree or diploma in Critical Care Nursing.
• Proven nursing experience in a Cardiac ICU setting.
• Strong customer orientation, team‑player attitude, high energy and excellent organization.
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment and willingness to participate in a flexi‑hours/call system.
