Registered Clinic Nurse – Allergy & Immunology Unit

About the role

The Allergy and Immunology Unit at the UCT Lung Institute seeks a compassionate Registered Clinic Nurse to deliver specialised patient‑centred care for individuals with allergic and immune‑related conditions. You will join a multidisciplinary team focused on advanced diagnostics, innovative treatments, and ongoing patient education.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clinical assessments, including blood pressure, lung function, skin prick, and other diagnostic tests.
• Administer immunotherapy, allergy desensitisation, and bee‑venom treatments while monitoring patient response.
• Conduct phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertions, and manage laboratory specimen preparation and transport.
• Maintain accurate patient records, laboratory results, and clinical documentation.
• Assist clinicians with interpretation and communication of allergy‑related results.
• Respond to patient queries, provide education, and support treatment planning.
• Monitor clinic stock levels and coordinate consumable orders.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing.
• 2‑5 years of clinical experience in private practice, clinic, or community health setting.
• Fluency in English and a second language (Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organisational, and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
