Regional Manager – Cape Town

About the role
The Regional Manager is responsible for the overall performance of Buffalo International Logistics' e‑commerce courier network across the Cape Town region. This senior leader will drive service, safety, quality, cost and growth objectives while translating national strategy into regional execution.
Key responsibilities
- Take end‑to‑end accountability for regional courier operations, including inbound processing, sortation, line‑haul, depot operations, last‑mile delivery, collections, returns and exception management.
- Lead Hub, Depot and Area Managers to meet operational and customer‑service targets, establishing consistent standards and governance across all facilities.
- Develop and execute regional capacity plans based on parcel forecasts, seasonal demand and major promotional campaigns.
- Monitor service‑level agreements and key performance indicators such as on‑time delivery, first‑attempt success, parcel backlog, cost per parcel and safety incidents.
- Own the regional operating budget, control expenses and drive profitability through route optimisation and workforce productivity.
- Coach and develop managers, build succession pipelines and ensure compliance with health, safety and labour legislation.
- Lead continuous‑improvement programmes, standardise processes and support technology implementation for warehouse, transport and routing systems.
- Act as senior operational contact for customer escalations and represent the region in national planning forums.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- At least 10 years’ experience in courier, e‑commerce, logistics or distribution operations.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior operational leadership role overseeing multiple sites or a large geographical area.
- Proven track record of managing large operating budgets, cost control and performance improvement.
- Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and driving safety, quality and customer‑focus cultures.
- Strong analytical ability with knowledge of operational systems and performance reporting.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the region and work flexible hours as required.
- Valid driver’s licence for regional travel.
