Railway Maintenance Technician

About the role

Bombela Maintenance, a subsidiary of Alstom, is seeking a dedicated Technician to join the Gautrain Maintenance Depot in Midrand, Johannesburg. The role focuses on keeping trains safe, reliable, and available through preventative maintenance and timely repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement standards.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on rolling stock.
• Assist with corrective maintenance tasks as required.
• Maintain accurate records in MAXIMO and GSI systems, generating reports as needed.
• Utilise materials, tools, and equipment correctly and efficiently.
• Collaborate effectively within the team and manage tasks independently.

Required profile

• Electrical Engineering National Diploma or a related trade qualification.
• 1‑2 years of relevant experience in railway or industrial maintenance.
• Strong computer diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85).
• Familiarity with maintenance systems and processes.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Electronics knowledge is an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts.
