Quality Manager

About the role

The Quality Manager will lead quality assurance activities for SGS South Africa’s Matrolab Division across the Southern Region (KZN and EC). The role ensures that all laboratory sites and the commercial laboratory operate in full compliance with SGS standards, ISO 17025:2017, and relevant safety legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the SGS Quality Management Programme on all assigned sites.
• Conduct internal audits and monitor compliance with ISO 17025 and other quality systems.
• Record, analyse and report quality metrics such as client complaints, turnaround times, and equipment performance.
• Support the national SHEQ Officer and ensure safety policies are adhered to.
• Lead quality improvement projects and drive reduction of internal and external claims.
• Maintain SHEQ management systems for laboratories and administrative offices.

Required profile

• Strong leadership, integrity and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to achieve strategic quality objectives.
• Minimum 6 years experience in a quality testing or production environment.
• At least 2 years experience with quality management systems (national or international).
• Safety management system experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Full competence in ISO 17025:2017 implementation and maintenance.
• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Document and report writing expertise.
• Statistical analysis knowledge (advantage).
• Familiarity with safety management systems (advantage).
