Quality Controller – Food Safety (Epping)

About the role

The Quality Controller will ensure that all poultry products meet the highest food safety and quality standards throughout processing, storage and dispatch. The role supports Astral’s commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality frozen products to market.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor the HACCP programme, ensuring all PRPs are followed.
• Manage the corrective‑action system for in‑process failures and report variances to department managers.
• Monitor staff personal hygiene and product flow to uphold hygiene standards.
• Record all process controls for receiving, production and dispatch of frozen products.
• Conduct daily cleanliness inspections of the processing environment.
• Prepare and submit laboratory samples on time and coordinate weekly swab testing.
• Assist in managing the 20‑keys system and ensure accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 qualification; tertiary education is an advantage.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of FSSC 22000, GMP and related quality management systems.
• Ability to speak English and a second official language.
• Strong communication skills at all organisational levels.
• Capacity to work in a high‑pressure environment, including shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays.
• Excellent administrative abilities and flexibility to work across all processing areas.
