Protection Internship

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Protection Regional Thematic Unit (PXD RTU). This position offers a hands‑on experience in the field of migration protection, contributing to the implementation of IOM’s strategic plan across regional and country offices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the PXD RTU in providing thematic expertise and guidance on protection programmes.
• Support oversight, quality assurance and technical back‑stopping activities for country office operations.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, briefing notes and other documentation related to protection initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Deputy Regional Director for Operations and other units to ensure alignment with IOM’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Age between 20 and 36 years.
• Less than two years of relevant work experience.
• Enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s degree programme or graduated within the last 12 months.
• Academic background or strong interest in migration, humanitarian protection, international relations or related fields.
• Holding a scholarship or sponsorship that requires or supports an internship in an international organization.
