Promotions Assistant – Retail & Marketplace

About the role

Takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, is seeking a Promotions Assistant to support its fast‑growing promotions function in Cape Town. Reporting to the Promotions Operations Manager, you will work closely with Marketplace and Retail Promotional Buyers to help launch and optimise promotional campaigns.

Key responsibilities

• Assist buyers in procuring and briefing deals for promotional campaigns and manage the product briefing process with retail and marketplace sellers.
• Review performance of promotional activities and contribute to continuous sales improvement.
• Support administrative tasks for Daily Flash Sales and all promotions, including recording exceptions, queries, technical issues, pricing, availability, and product suitability.
• Report required marketing material to internal stakeholders.
• Help meet promotional KPIs such as new buyer acquisition, GMV growth, profitability, sell‑through, and marketplace participation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Retail, Commerce or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of experience in retail promotions or commerce.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, and a solutions‑oriented, self‑motivated attitude.
• Comfortable learning and adapting to new systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
