Project Manager – Bridge Construction (Contract)

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a major bridge infrastructure project in Pretoria. The role involves full responsibility for planning, execution, commercial management, quality, safety and timely delivery while complying with all contractual and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for bridge construction from commencement to final hand‑over.
• Develop and implement execution plans, construction methodologies and resource strategies.
• Manage scope, programme, budget, quality, safety and contractual obligations.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams including site agents, engineers, quantity surveyors, safety officers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Oversee all bridge works – piling, foundations, sub‑structures, super‑structures, reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel components, deck construction and associated roadworks.
• Monitor progress against the programme and implement corrective actions.
• Manage risks, claims, variations and contractual correspondence.
• Ensure compliance with OH&S legislation, environmental requirements and quality management systems.
• Prepare and present monthly progress, financial and performance reports to senior management.

Required profile

• NQF level qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Professional registration as a Construction Manager or Project Manager with SACPCMP.
• Minimum 8 years of civil engineering construction experience, including at least 7 years managing bridge projects.
• Proven track record delivering medium to large bridge infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
• Experience with SANRAL, provincial roads or other major public infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of GCC and/or FIDIC contract conditions.
