Project Development Engineer

About the role

The company is looking to recruit an ambitious and energetic Project Development Engineer to help lead the solar revolution. The role demands creativity, innovation and a fresh way of thinking to support Candi’s mission in emerging markets.

Key responsibilities

• Support the sales team by providing technical solutions, including EYAs using Helioscope and client energy load assessments.
• Prepare technical proposals, interact with Candi’s financial model, and design Solar PV and BESS systems.
• Liaise with EPCs and channel partners to ensure designs meet company requirements and review detailed EPC designs.
• Coordinate with the project management team for smooth hand‑over after contract signing.
• Develop and improve Candi processes and standard operating procedures.
• Travel periodically within South Africa and potentially to Sub‑Saharan Africa, attending regular meetings with team members and managers.

Required profile

• B.Eng or M.Eng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with less than 5 years experience in the C&I solar space in South Africa.
• Experience in sizing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is an advantage.
• Dynamic personality able to support project management and liaise with clients.
• Valid South African residency or work permit.
