Project Cost Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Project Cost Controller to join a leading international renewable energy company in South Africa on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent. The role will oversee cost control, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting for utility‑scale renewable energy projects throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cost control for utility‑scale renewable energy construction projects.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow and perform variance analysis during project delivery.
• Partner with Project Managers and Finance to forecast costs to completion and identify financial risks.
• Support commercial proposals, project budgeting and provide financial inputs for EPC tenders and new project bids.
• Prepare project reporting, financial analysis and management reports to aid business decisions.
• Review project expenses, contractual revenue claims and ensure financial compliance.
• Assist with business planning, forecasting, internal controls and process improvements to enhance profitability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate financial oversight across multiple projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 8+ years of finance experience, including at least 5 years in project cost controlling or controlling.
• Experience in renewable energy, construction, engineering, EPC or project‑based environments is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Familiarity with IFRS is advantageous.
• Immediate availability is strongly preferred.
