Project Construction Manager (PCM)

About the role

Our client, a leading South African engineering and construction firm, is looking for an experienced Project Construction Manager to lead site‑based execution across power, transmission, rail, mining, industrial and infrastructure projects. The role involves overseeing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, schedule and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all site‑based construction activities and overall project execution.
• Manage delivery against scope, schedule, budget, quality, SHEQ and ISO requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractors.
• Drive construction planning, execution, reporting and performance monitoring.
• Manage project risks, delays, recovery plans and corrective actions.
• Oversee resource planning, plant, equipment and material utilization.
• Maintain strong client, consultant and stakeholder relationships.
• Support commercial, contractual and financial project controls.
• Lead and develop high‑performing site teams.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Construction Manager (Pr.CM) registration preferred.
• Minimum 10 years’ construction/project execution experience.
• At least 5 years in a senior site leadership role.
• Strong experience managing large multidisciplinary construction projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC and/or JBCC contracts.
• Proven ability to deliver projects within scope, budget, schedule, quality and SHEQ requirements.
• Strong stakeholder, subcontractor and contractor management experience.
