Programme Manager – Real Estate Development (12‑month contract)

About the role

A leading South African retailer is looking for an experienced Programme Manager to lead a 12‑month, large‑scale store refurbishment programme. The role involves overseeing transformation across people, processes and technology while travelling extensively across South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of the retail store refurbishment programme.
• Develop and manage governance frameworks aligned with strategic objectives.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams to meet milestones on time and within budget.
• Identify, assess and mitigate programme risks, dependencies and issues.
• Maintain strong relationships with executive stakeholders and provide regular performance reporting.
• Oversee programme budgets, resource allocation and delivery timelines.
• Travel extensively to support implementation and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Extensive programme management experience in a retail environment.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale business transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of organisational change management across people, processes and technology.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage diverse stakeholder groups.
• Excellent risk management, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout South Africa.
